Stone Age carvings high on Ambukuthi Hill

Edakkal Caves are two natural rock shelters high on Ambukuthi Hill near Ambalavayal. They are known for petroglyphs, rock carvings of human figures, animals and symbols that are thousands of years old and linked to the Neolithic period. The caves are formed by a large boulder wedged between two rocks.
Reaching them takes a climb of several hundred steps through the forest and then a short trek up the hill, with wide views over the valley from the top.
See it as part of a planned itinerary with transport, stay and a trip coordinator.
